Abstract:

Hlavní cíle této práce se vztahují k problematice konvergenčních procesů v rámci členských zemí EU. Jako výchozí myšlenka pro analýzu konvergenčních procesů hospodářských cyklů v rámci zemí EU slouží teorie OCA. Jako hlavní statistická metoda široce aplikovaná na hospodářské cykly extrahované z několika časových řad makroekonomických ukazatelů všech zkoumaných zemí je použita korelační analýza. Extrakce hospodářských cyklů bylo dosaženo díky několika detrendovacím filtrovacím technikám. Analýza konvergenčních procesů na časové škále posledních 25 let odhalila silné sladění hospodářských cyklů většiny členských zemí Evropské unie. Získané informace podporují myšlenku existence v čase se formujícího společného hospodářského cyklu EU.

Abstract:

The leading objectives of this thesis relate to the topic of convergence processes within the EU Member States. The theory of OCA serves as a starting point for the analysis of the business cycle convergence processes among the EU countries. Correlation analysis is the main statistical method applied broadly on the business cycles extracted from several time series of macroeconomic indicators of all analyzed countries. The business cycle extraction process is achieved via several detrending filtering techniques. The analysis of the convergence processes on the timescale of last 25 year reveals strong alignment of business cycles of most of the EU members. There is also evidence supporting existence and formation of a common business cycle of the EU.
