Energy policy of China and the USA in Central Asia: current development, trends and challenges

Abstract:

Cílem práce je stanovit shodné i rozdílné rysy bezpečnostní energetické politiky Číny a Spojených států amerických ve Střední Asii. V úvodu práce je vysvětlen teoretický rámec energetické bezpečnosti. Práce popisuje přístup a nástroje energeticko-bezpečnostní politiky obou zemí nejprve v obecné rovině, strategický význam regionu Střední Asie pro obě země, a následně konkrétní aktivity obou zemí v regionu Střední Asie, které souvisejí s naplňováním jejich energetické bezpečnostní politiky. Práce se primárně věnuje ropě a zemnímu plynu a časově období od počátku 90. let 20. století do současnosti.

Abstract:

The dissertation determines the same and the different features of the energy security policies of China and the United States in Central Asia. The theoretical framework of energy security is explained in the first part of the dissertation. The dissertation describes the general approach and tools of the energy security policies of both countries, the strategic importance of Central Asia to both countries, and the specific activities of both countries in Central Asia, which relate to the fulfillment of their energy security policies. The work is principally devoted to oil and natural gas and the time period from the beginning of the 90s of the 20th century to the present.
