Interpretation of transformation of motives and social identity of character Karel Kopfrkingl in The Cremator

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá sociologicko-naratologickou analýzou hlavní postavy filmu Spalovač mrtvol režiséra Juraje Herze z roku 1968. Práce se s využitím vybraných sociologických teorií snaží o prezentaci a analýzu proměn motivů a sociální identity filmové postavy. V teoretické části práce vymezuje dané téma a s ním spjaté teoretické koncepty na základě odborné literatury. První část práce představuje snímek Spalovač mrtvol a charakterizuje jej v jeho kulturně-historickém kontextu soudobé filmové tvorby Československé nové vlny šedesátých let dvacátého století. Vymezuje také pojmy sociální role, lidské masky a přetvářky jako prostředku k získání žádané sociální identity. V metodologické části práce odhaluje metodiku výzkumu v podobě přístupu naratologické analýzy, definuje pojmy vyprávění, naraci, filmovou naratologii a typologii a funkci postav. V poslední části práce se autorka zabývá analýzou narace zvoleného filmového vzorku, její interpretací a aplikací na zmíněná teoretická východiska.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the sociological and narratological analysis of the main character of The Cremator by Juraj Herz from 1968. The thesis will try to use selected sociological theories to present and analyse changes of the social role and identity of the main character of the film. In the theoretical part the thesis defines the given topic and related theoretical concepts. The first part presents The Cremator and characterizes it in its cultural and historical context of the Czech New Wave. It also defines the concepts of social role, human masks and hypocrisy as means of obtaining desired social identity. In the methodological part the thesis reveals the methodology of research in the form of approach of naratological analysis, defines the terms of narration, film narratology and character function. In the last part of the thesis, the author deals with the analysis of the selected film sample, its interpretation and application on the theoretical basis.
