Processing of Biopolymer Based Hydrogels Using 3D Printing

Abstract:

Hydrogely na bázi biopolymerů jsou v dnešní době široce zkoumány v souvislosti s tkáňovým inženýrstvím, konkrétně s 3D biotiskem. Proto se tato práce zabývá tvorbou chemicky síťovaných hydrogelů z kuřecí želatiny s cílem dosáhnout vhodné kompozice pro 3D tisk. Pro úspěšný biotisk je nutné, aby měl daný materiál vhodné vlastnosti nejen z hlediska biokompatibility, ale také mechaniky a tokového chování. Bylo provedeno měření viskozity, na jehož základě proběhl užší výběr gelů pro extruzi. Jako tiskový model posloužila pórovitá mřížka. Přesnost výtisku byla diskutována s ohledem na charakter polymerní sítě a mechanické namáhání během tisku. Bylo prokázáno, že daný systém je možné použít pro extruzní 3D tisk. Na základě výsledků této práce je možné pokračovat ve výzkumu tohoto materiálu s potenciální aplikací v biotisku.

Abstract:

Hydrogels based on biopolymers are nowadays widely studied in connection with tissue engineering, specifically with 3D bioprinting. Due to this, the current work deals with the formation of chemically cross-linked hydrogels from chicken gelatin in order to achieve a suitable composition for 3D printing. For successful bioprinting, it is necessary that the material has suitable properties in terms of biocompatibility, but also mechanical and flow behavior. Viscosity measurement was conducted, and the results were used for fine selection of materials for extrusion. A porous grid served as a printing model. The accuracy of the print was discussed with respect to characteristics of the polymer network and the mechanical stress during printing. It has been proven that the system can be used for extrusion 3D printing. Based on the results of this work, it is possible to continue the research of this material with potential applications in bioprinting.
