Abstract:

Tématem bakalářské práce je charakter zahraniční politiky Margaret Thatcherové, která svou razantností přispěla k výrazným změnám v mezinárodní politice.Cílem práce je analýza postojů britské vlády k jednotlivým zahraničně politickým problémům, kterým premiérka čelila v době svého funkčního období v letech 1979–1990. Práce se soustředí zejména na politické kroky a rysy zahraniční politiky, které vychází z idejí neokonzervatismu. Zkoumán bude především britský přístup k válce o Falklandy, postoj k africkému kontinentu a v neposlední řadě také k událostem v Evropě (ukončení studené války, sjednocení Německa, rozpad SSSR, prohlubování evropské integrace atd.). Práce rovněž porovná britskou a americkou zahraniční politiku, jejíž ráz určovala administrativa v čele s Ronaldem Reaganem, přičemž hlavní důraz bude kladen na společné neokonzervativní prvky.Práce se bude opírat o metody dokumentové analýzy, indukce, dedukce a komparace.

Abstract:

The subject of the bachelor dissertation is a character of the foreign policy of Margaret Thatcher who contributed to substantial changes in the area of foreign policy due to her vigorous commitment. The objective of the work is to analyse the attitudes of the British government to single issues of foreign policy that then Prime minister was facing at the time of her serving period of 1979–1990. Primarily, the work focuses on political steps and outlines of foreign policy that are derived from the ideas of neoconservatism. Primarily the British attitude to the Falkland war, the attitude to the African continent as well as events in Europe (the stopping of the Cold war, the unification of Germany, the disintegration of the Soviet Union, the elaboration of the European integration etc.) will be examined. The work will also compare British and American foreign policies. American foreign policy was determined by the administration of Ronald Reagan at the head whereas the main emphasis will be laid on common neoconservative elements. The work will be supported by the methods of document analysis, induction, deduction and comparison.
