The views of foster care children on contact visits with their biological family

Abstract:

Předložená bakalářská práce se zabývá kontaktem dětí v pěstounské péči s jejich biologickou rodinou. Práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a empirickou část. V teoretické části práce jsou vymezeny základní pojmy, jako je rodina, pěstounská péče a kontakt s biologickou rodinou. Součástí je také shrnutí základních rodinných funkcí, legislativního rámce pěstounské péče včetně forem a dávek v pěstounské péči. Dále jsou shrnuty poznatky z dosavadních výzkumů o kontaktech v pěstounské péči. Cílem práce bylo zjistit, jak děti vyrůstající v pěstounské péči vnímají kontakt s biologickou rodinou. Tento cíl byl dosažen prostřednictvím kvalitativní analýzy osmi polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s dětmi ve věku 15-17 let vyrůstajícími v pěstounské péči. Výsledky ukazují, že prožívání kontaktů je velmi individuální a odvíjí se od toho, jaké byly příčiny odebrání, o jaké členy rodiny se jedná, jaký má dítě vztah k dané osobě a v jakém vztahu je ta osoba s pěstounem.

Abstract:

The presented bachelor's thesis examines the interaction between children in foster care and their biological families. The thesis is structured into theoretical and empiri- cal sections. The theoretical part of the thesis defines basic concepts such as family, foster care, and contact with the biological family. It also provides an overview of es- sential family functions, the legislative framework governing foster care, including its forms and allowances. Furthermore, findings from previous research on contacts in foster care are summarized. The aim of the thesis was to explore how children growing up in foster care perceive contact with their biological family. This goal was achieved through qualitative analysis of eight semi-structured interviews with adolescents aged 15-17 in foster care. The results show that the experience of contacts is very individual and depends on factors such as the circumstances leading to removal, the specific fam- ily members involved, the child's relationship with them, and their relationship with the foster caregiver.
