International comparison of gender attitudes in the context of European Values Study

Anotace:

Tato diplomová práce je věnována mezinárodní komparaci genderových postojů ve vybraných zemích Evropské unie v kontextu dat European Values Study z roku 2017. V teoretické části jsou představeny koncepty druhé demografické tranzice, genderové revoluce, genderových stereotypů či gender-mainstreamingu. Dále je pozornost věnována způsobům měření genderové rovnosti a genderových postojů. V metodologické části je prostřednictvím smíšených lineárních modelů představena současná situace v oblasti genderové rovnosti ve vybraných evropských zemích. V druhé části je pak za pomoci dat z OECD a Eurostatu zkoumána podobnost evropských států na institucionální úrovni, přičemž za pomoci shlukové analýzy je ukázáno, které země si jsou podobné svými pracovními podmínkami a rodinnými politikami. Na závěr je za pomoci víceúrovňových modelů (multi-level analýzy) zjišťováno, zda zvolené institucionálních charakteristiky evropských států dělají Evropany více genderově rovnostářskými.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis is dedicated to the international comparison of gender attitudes in selected countries of the European Union in the context of European Values Study data from 2017. In the theoretical part are presented the concepts of the second demographic transition, gender revolution, gender stereotypes, or gender-mainstreaming. Furthermore, attention is paid to measuring gender equality and gender attitudes. In the methodological part, the current situation in the field of gender equality in selected European countries is presented through mixed linear models. In the second part, with the help of data from the OECD and Eurostat, the similarity of European states at the institutional level is examined. Moreover, with the help of cluster analysis, it is shown which countries are similar in their working conditions and family policies. Finally, with the help of multi-level models, it is determined whether the chosen institutional characteristics of European states make Europeans more gender egalitarian.
