Veganism as social stigma, a Narrative Analysis of the Path to veganism

Abstract:

Ve své Bakalářské práci s názvem Veganství jako sociální stigma, narativní analýza cesty k veganství se zabývám fenoménem veganství jako identitou člověka. Práci rozděluji do několika kapitol, kde se věnuji nejprve definování pojmu veganství a jeho historickému kontextu. Dále se zabývám tím, jaké důvody mají lidé k tomu, stát se vegany, z čeho tyto důvody vychází, a jaké pro ně mají opodstatnění. V dalších kapitolách se zabývám veganstvím ve spojitosti se sociální identitou člověka a vztahu této identity s majoritní společností, kde se zaměřuji na témata předsudků a stigmatizace. V praktické části se věnuji narativní analýze příběhů veganů, kteří byli ochotni se podělit o svůj příběh.

Abstract:

In my bachelor thesis Veganism as a social stigma, a narrative analysis of the paths to veganism focusing on the phenomenon of veganism as a human identity. I divide the work into several parts, where I firstly define veganism and its historical context. In the next topic I deal with reasons for people that have become vegan, why they have these reasons and how they justify them. In the following chapters I write about veganism in connection with the social identity of human and the relationship between this identity and the majority society, where I focus on the issues of prejudice and stigmatization. In the empirical part I focus on narrative analysis of the vegans stories that were willing to share their story.
