Effects of inflation targeting the Czech National Bank on development of economy

Abstract:

Psal se rok 1997, kdy zažívaly česká ekonomika společně s domácí měnou těžké chvíle. Česká národní banka pod tlakem událostí opustila režim fixního kurzu a přistoupila k měnově-politickému režimu cílování inflace. Diplomová práce "Dopady cílování inflace na vývoj ekonomiky ČR" se zabývá účinností měnových nástrojů a analyzuje jejich dopad na inflaci a následný ekonomický vývoj v ČR. Vyhodnocení je rozděleno do třech částí. První popisuje přechod k režimu cílování inflace, druhá zkoumá desetileté období řízení inflace především pomocí 2T repo sazby a poslední třetí část vyhodnocuje současné devizové intervence. Cílem práce je posoudit efektivitu zásahů České národní banky a navrhnout opatření dalšího působení na inflaci.

Abstract:

It was in 1997 when the Czech economy, together with the Czech currency experienced hard times. Under pressure of events the Czech National Bank had to leave the fixed exchange rate regime and accepted the monetary-political inflation targeting regime. The thesis "Effects of inflation targeting the Czech National Bank on development of economy" deal with efficiency of monetary instruments and analyses their impact on inflation and the subsequent course of Czech economy. The evaluation is divided into three parts. The first describes the transition to an inflation targeting regime, the second examines the controlled inflation during the ten-year period primarily via the 2W repo rate and the last part evaluates the current foreign exchange interventions. The aim is to assess the effectiveness of the Czech National Bank interventions and propose further measures how to influence inflation.
