Opening of IS MU E-learning for General Public

Abstract:

Informační systém Masarykovy univerzity (IS MU) byl před implementací této diplomové práce v~autentizované části přístupný pouze uživatelům, kteří byli do systému zavedeni pověřenými osobami. Cílem diplomové práce bylo zpřístupnit IS~MU široké veřejnosti v autentizované podobě za účelem elektronických online kurzů, tzv. e-kurzů. Příprava nové funkcionality obnášela detailní nastudování komponent e-learningu v IS~MU jak na uživatelské, tak na technické úrovni. Součástí přípravy byla rovněž analýza, jak danou problematiku řeší jiné systémy -- především poskytovatelé MOOCs a LMSs. Navazující realizace zahrnovala úpravu stávajících agend tak, aby mohly být použité také jako e-kurzy pro veřejnost. Výraznou změnou prošly interaktivní osnovy. Jejich inovovaná responzivní verze byla zpřístupněna také studentům MU. Dále vznikla nová sekce na Elportále s prezentací e-kurzů. Nejvýznamnější bylo implementování nového nástroje pro vytváření neověřených účtů, které slouží ke přihlašování do e-kurzů. Na což navazuje jejich následná autentizace s omezeným přístupem. V neposlední řadě byla také vytvořena aplikace pro správu e-kurzů. Nový nástroj přináší učitelům možnost, jak zviditelnit svou práci a tím popularizovat vědní oblast, ve které se pohybují.

Abstract:

Before this thesis the Information System of Masaryk University (IS MU) was accessible in authentizated mode only to users added by the authorized staff. The aim of the thesis was to make IS MU accessible to a broader public so that they can be able to study online courses, so called e-courses. The preparation of such a change involved detailed study of various kinds of e-learning tools available in IS MU, both on user and technical level. We also analyzed other related platforms -- mainly MOOC and LMS providers. Subsequent implementation comprised of modifications of the current applications so that they can be used for e-courses as well. Interactive syllabi also undergo a substatial change. Their new version was made available even to current MU students. Section with e-courses overview was implemented in Elportál. The most important change was the introduction of a tool for creating non-verified accounts which are then used for logging into the e-courses. After their authentization the access rights were restricted accordingly. Last but not least, application for e-courses administration was developed as well. New features enables the teacher to make their work visible and thus popularize the scientific area they are involved in.
