Abstract:

ABSTRACT The phenomenon of Internet of things has been grown exponentially over the last few years and has become more visible in everyday life of people. The domain of sports and fitness has also been influenced by this trend, thus, an increasing number of smart devices designed and produced for the sports and fitness enthusiastic consumers. The purpose of this study is to examine the attitude and the perception of users and potential users towards the focus company- ‘Fitbit’ smart devices. The academic part of this thesis comprises of terms, concepts and the overall literature review which supports the deductive and inductive research reasoning used by the author. In the practical part, through illustrative research of the target audience, an in-depth analysis of the primary data captured with an online survey would aid in developing recommendations on how the focus company, - ‘Fitbit’ can be at a competitive advantage in the smart wearable industry. The overall result showed that consumers have positive perceptions and attitude towards Fitbit, but better attitude towards smartwatches. However, opportunities exist for Fitbit to take steps that would improve consumer perception and attitude towards its products.
