Hydric soil properties in selected agroforestry sites of coffee plantations in Peru

Abstract:

Hydrické a vzdušné poměry půdního prostředí jsou velice důležité pro správný a ekologicky stabilní rozvoj všech přírodních ekosystémů a podmiňují tak jejich trvalou udržitelnost. Způsob využívání stanoviště a typ uplatňovaného managementu má výrazný vliv na mikroklimatické podmínky a stejně tak i na celkový charakter ekosystému. Agrolesnické systémy jsou v současné době probíhající globální klimatické změny velice diskutovaným tématem a jeví se v kontextu snahy o optimální a přírodě blízký způsob využívání stanoviště jako vhodné řešení. Cílem této práce tedy bylo vyhodnotit hydrické a vzdušné poměry půd tří různých typů landuse v návaznosti na jejich způsob dlouhodobého managementu, a to v různých hloubkách půdního prostředí. Jednalo se o landuse agrolesnických kávových plantáží, plochy pastvin a ekosystémy lesních porostů. Vyhodnocení proběhlo na základě analýzy půdních vzorků odebraných na různých výzkumných lokalitách těchto typů landuse za účelem stanovení hydrostatických vlastností půdy v podobě vybraných hydrolimitů v kombinaci se stanovením aktuálního stavu vlhkosti pomocí vlhkostního čidla. Během provedeného šetření a vyhodnocení zjištěných výsledků byl prokázán vliv typu managementu stanoviště na jeho fyzikální vlastnosti půdního prostředí. Příznivější výsledky vyhodnocení byly obecně zjištěny v půdním prostředí lesních ekosystémů. Půdní prostředí agrolesnických kávových plantáží a ploch pastvin se vyznačovalo obdobně nepříznivými podmínkami. V rámci této práce byl také prokázán nepříznivý vliv obsahu skeletu, a naopak příznivý vliv vyššího celkového obsahu uhlíku v půdním prostředí.

Abstract:

The hydric and air conditions of the soil environment are very important for the proper and ecologically stable development of all natural ecosystems and thus significantly determine their sustainability. The landuse and the type of management applied has a significant impact on the microclimatic conditions and the overall character of the ecosystem. Agroforestry systems are a highly debated topic in the current context of global climate change and appear to be an appropriate solution in the context of the quest for optimal and nature-friendly habitat use. Therefore, the aim of this thesis was to evaluate the hydric and aeration properties of soils of three different landuse types in relation to their long-term management practices in different soil depths. These management types were agroforestry coffee plantation landuses, pasture areas and forest ecosystems. The evaluation was based on the analysis of soil samples collected at different research sites of these landuse types to determine soil hydrostatic properties in the form of selected hydrological parameters combined with the determination of the current moisture status using a moisture sensor. During the research and evaluation of the results, the influence of the landuse type on the physical properties of the soil environment was confirmed. More favourable evaluation results were generally found in the soil environment of forest ecosystems. The soil environments of agroforestry coffee plantations and pasture areas were characterized by similarly unfavorable conditions. Within this thesis was also confirmed an unfavourable effect of soil fractions content, and conversely a favourable effect of higher total carbon content in the soil environment.
