Popularity of anti-utopia with young adult readers

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá popularitou antiutopického žánru v současné literatuře pro mládež. Práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a praktickou část. Cílem teoretické části je vymezení základních pojmů souvisejících s tématem. Součástí teorie je stručná charakteristika a vývoj antiutopie. Dále je zde popsán termín Young Aduld literature, jeho typické rysy a čtenáři. V dalsí části je provedena interpretace triologie Hunger Games od Suzanne Collins a triologie Divergence od Veronicy Roth. Tyto díla jsou srovnány s filmovou verzí, s prvky reálného světa, a také s klasickou antiutopií. V praktické části je proveden výzkum zaměřen na již zmíněnou popularitu antiutopického žánru u mládeže. Tento výzkum je proveden v podobě dotazníku.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the popularity of the anti-utopian genre in contemporary Youth Adult literature. The work is divided into theoretical and practical part. The aim of the theoretical part is to define the basic concepts related to the topic. As a part of the theory is a brief description and development of anti-utopia. Further, there is described the term Young Adult literature, its typical features, and its reader. In the next part, The Hunger Games triology by Suzanne Collins and The Divergence Series by Veronica Roth are performed. These works are compared with the film version, with elements of the real world and also with classical anti-utopia. In the practical part, the research is focused on the already mentioned popularity of the anti-utopian genre among young adult. This research is carried out in the form of a questionnaire.
