Digital competences of economically oriented university students and support of their development through teaching

Abstract:

Probíhající proces digitalizace ve státech Evropské unie snižuje nezaměstnanost a vede k proměnám náplně pracovních míst, konkrétně pak k vyšším nárokům na digitální kompetence uchazečů o pracovní místa. EU specifikuje potřebné digitální kompetence v koncepci DigComp, která je využita i v této práci. Mnohé výzkumy se zaměřují na studenty vysokých škol a ukazují, že jejich úroveň digitálních kompetencí je ovlivněna určitými faktory, např. absolvováním kurzu práce s digitálními nástroji či studovaným ročníkem. K osvojení digitálních kompetencí by měly napomáhat univerzity v rámci přípravy studentů pro praxi. Univerzity ale v tomto ohledu nejsou vždy efektivní, což závisí mimo jiné na úrovni digitálních kompetencí pedagogů, kteří na nich vyučují, a na schopnosti a ochotě těchto pedagogů digitální technologie integrovat do výuky. Primárním cílem bakalářské práce je zkoumat, (a) v jaké míře mají osvojené studenti ve věku 19 až 29 let ekonomických oborů digitální dovednosti z oblastí Komunikace a spolupráce a Tvorba digitálního obsahu; (b) do jaké míry a jakým způsobem u nich tyto kompetence rozvíjí pedagogové na stávajících ekonomických oborech prostřednictvím výuky. Sekundárním cílem je (c) zjistit, zda je hodnocení studentů ovlivněno vybranými faktory.

Abstract:

The ongoing process of digitalisation in the EU countries is reducing unemployment and leading to changes in the job content, specifically to higher demands for digital competences of job applicants. The EU specifies the necessary digital competences in the DigComp concept, which is also used in this paper. Much research focuses on university students and shows that their level of digital competences is influenced by certain factors, such as having taken a course on working with digital tools or the year studied. The acquisition of digital competences should be facilitated by universities in preparing students for practice. However, universities are not always effective in this respect, which depends, among other things, on the level of digital competence of the educators who teach there and on the ability and willingness of these educators to integrate digital technologies into their teaching. The primary aim of the Bachelor's thesis is to investigate (a) the extent to which students aged 19 to 29 in economics majors have acquired digital skills in the areas of Communication and Collaboration and Digital Content Creation; and (b) the extent to which and the manner in which educators in existing economics majors develop these competencies in them through their teaching. The secondary objective is (c) to determine whether student assessment is influenced by the selected factors.
