Support of Positive Personality Development of Hearing Individuals Brought-up by Deaf Parents

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá podporou pozitivního osobnostního rozvoje slyšících dětí neslyšících rodičů, které bývají označovány zkratkou CODA (z anglického Children Of Deaf Adults). Jejím hlavním cílem je zanalyzovat vliv daného typu výchovy na rozvoj osobnosti těchto jedinců a na základě získaných informací optimalizovat vývoj slyšících dětí neslyšících rodičů prostřednictvím osvětové přednášky. Teoretická část shrnuje přehled současných poznatků z oblasti sluchového postižení, komunikace osob se sluchovým postižením a kultury Neslyšících. Dále je pozornost věnována výchově slyšících dětí neslyšícími rodiči, specifikám komunikace ve „smíšených“ rodinách a také vlivu výchovného působení neslyšících rodičů na jazykový vývoj a identitu jejich slyšících dětí, na proces jejich socializace, vzdělávání a profesní orientaci. V neposlední řadě se teoretická část zaměřuje na podporu a nabídku služeb určených těmto rodinám. Praktická část obsahuje výzkumné šetření realizované na základě případových studií. Pro jejich tvorbu byly využity výpovědi získané v rámci rozhovorů s dospělými CODA. Výsledky výzkumného šetření budou prezentovány na osvětové přednášce pro neslyšící rodiče slyšících dětí.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the support of the positive personality development of deaf parents´ hearing children, who are designated with the abbreviation of CODA (Children Of Deaf Adults). Its main objective is to analyze the impact of the given type of upbringing on the personality development of these individuals and on the basis of the acquired information to optimize the development of deaf parents´ hearing children by means of an education lecture. The theoretical part summarizes an overview of current findings from the area of hearing impairment, communication of the hearing-impaired and culture of the Deaf. Attention is further paid to the upbringing hearing children by their deaf parents, to the particularities of communication in “mixed” families and also to the impact of deaf parents´ educational activity on the language development and identity of their hearing children, on the process of their socialization, education and professional orientation. Last, but not least, the theoretical part focuses on the support and offer of services aimed at these families. The practical part contains a research survey conducted on the basis of case studies. These studies draw on statements obtained within the interviews with CODA adult individuals. The results of the research survey will be presented in an education lecture for the deaf parents of hearing children.
