Václav Havel's Theatre of the Absurd

Abstract:

Diplomová práce "Absurdní divadlo Václava Havla" se zabývá fenoménem, se kterým nás jako první teoreticky seznámil Martin Esslin. Jde o absurdní divadlo. Práce předkládá obecné pojednání o tomto zajímavém fenoménu, o jeho působení ve světě, a také zmiňuje nejpozoruhodnější a nejznámější světové autory. Poté se zaměřuje na českého dramatika Václava Havla. Zabývá se jak Havlovou divadelní tvorbou, tak i jeho nedivadelním životem. Pro podrobnější analýzu práce uplatňuje tři Havlovy hry z počátků jeho tvorby (Zahradní slavnost, Vyrozumění a Ztížená možnost soustředění). Analýzu provádí pomocí sémantického čtení. V textech hledá prvky absurdního divadla, společné znaky všech tří her a také jejich rozdíly. Cílem je seznámení se s absurdním divadlem v podání Václava Havla a celkové pochopení ideje absurdního divadla.

Abstract:

The thesis about „Václav Havel´s Theatre of the Absurd“ deals with a phenomenon first theoretically mentioned by Martin Esslin. It is the Theatre of the Absurd. This work advances general informations about this interesting phenomenon, about its impact in the world and it also mentions the most outstanding and most world-known authors. Then it focuses on the czech dramatist, Václav Havel. It is as well about his dramatic production as about his personal life. For a more detailed analysis this work uses three of Havelʼs dramas of his early period (The Garden Party, The Memorandum, The Increased Difficulty of Concentration). The analysis is pursued by a semantic view. The work searches for the elements of the Theatre of the Absurd, the common attributes of all of three dramas as well as for their differences. The aim is the introduction with the Václav Havel´s Theatre of the Absurd on the one hand, and on the other hand the general understanding of the ideas of the Theatre of the Absurd itself.
