How far different are genomes of rice and barley?

Abstract:

Ječmen a rýže jsou zástupci čeledi lipnicovitých (Poaceae). Rýže má malý a kompaktní genom (398 Mb a 34 % repetic). Genom ječmene se od genomu rýže značně liší velikostí i zastoupením repetic (5 200 Mb a 70 % repetic). I přes tyto odlišnosti bylo zjištěno, že oba genomy jsou podobné částmi svých chromozomů (syntenie). Syntenie byla nalezena mezi všemi chromozomy rýže a ječmene. Toho lze využít pro studium genů, mapování, poziční klonování a molekulární křížení. V této práci je popsána evoluce lipnicovitých (Poaceae), význam a vlastnosti genomů rýže a ječmene, sekvencování rýže. Dále je v práci popsáno srovnání genomů obou druhů, studium genů a mapování genomu ječmene pomocí genomu rýže.

Abstract:

Barley and rice are members of the family (Poaceae). Rice has a small and compact genome (398 Mb and 34% repeats). Barley genome vary considerably in size and proportion of repetitions (5200 Mb and 70% repeats) of rice genome. Despite these differences, it has been found that both genomes are similar in segment of their chromosomes (synetnní). Synteny has been found among all chromosomes of rice and barley. This can be used to study gene mapping, positional cloning and molecular breeding. This thesis describes the evolution of Poaceae, importance and characteristics of rice and barley genomes, sequencing of rice. This work describes the comparison of the both species genomes, the study of genes and barley genome mapping with rice genome.
