Feature stories about the influence of European policy on Czech citizens written for the magazine Respekt

Abstract:

Hlavní náplní této bakalářské práce je soubor feature a reportáží na téma vlivu Evropské unie na české občany za první dekádu členství pro týdeník Respekt. Každý z textů se věnuje vybrané oblasti, kde se vliv politiky EU projevil a ovlivnil aktéry. K tomu, aby bylo možné soubor textů vyprodukovat, je nutné ukotvit žánr feature a jeho teoretická východiska. Ty je třeba identifikovat jednak z teoretického hlediska v odborné literatuře a rovněž empirickým výzkumem v redakci Respektu. První část proto definuje žánry feature a reportáže dle odborné literatury a podává obecný návod, jak texty tohoto zaměření zpracovávat. Další část poté podává tematický kontext a teoretický úvod k problematice Evropské unie a jejích politik v pěti vybraných oblastech. Na část teoretickou navazuje část empirická, v níž je žánrové vymezení feature a reportáže v týdeníku Respekt na základě výzkumu v terénu. V empirické části je tedy konfrontována teorie s praxí v cílovém médiu. Na základě zjištěných skutečností o žánru a jeho aplikaci následuje v textu práce pětice tvůrčích ukázek. Na ně navazují odborné autorské kritické reflexe, které se zabývají všemi produktovými texty a provádí komparaci s teoretickými a empirickými poznatky.

Abstract:

The main goal of this bachelor thesis is to create a set of feature stories about the influence of European policy on Czech citizens during first 10 years after Czech republic joined Union for the magazine Respekt. Each text reflects one of the chosen areas, where European policy influenced respondents lifes. In order to be able to write these articles it is necessary to find out the theoretical bases of the genre by scientits, but also by the journalists in the redaction of Respekt. First part of this thesis defines the genres of feature and reportage based on the journalist literature from both Czech and foreign scientists and produce general guidance on how to write them. Second part offers theoretical context about European Union in general and about the influence of European policy on Czech republic in five areas. Theoretical part is followed by the empirical part in which the general definition of feature and reportage is compared with the practical use of these genres in Respekt. These data are gathered by quantitative research in the redaction. Five practical feature stories are based on the theoretical concepts. The professional reflection of all stories is another part of the theses. In this part, the feature stories are compared with the data from theoretical and empirical research.
