Analysis of Catering Services of Selected Airlines

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zaměřuje na analýzu a zlepšení cateringových služeb v leteckém průmyslu prostřednictvím srovnání letecké společnosti "Smartwings" a letecké společnosti "Emirates". S narůstajícím cestovním ruchem a konkurencí mezi leteckými společnostmi je stále důležitější poskytovat vysoce kvalitní cateringové služby, které budou odpovídat očekáváním cestujících a zajišťovat konkurenceschopnost společnosti. Teoretická část práce poskytuje přehled o fungování leteckého průmyslu a terminologii spojenou s cateringovými službami na palubě letadel. Analytická část je zaměřena na výzkum preferencí cestujících a procesu poskytování cateringových služeb v obou zkoumaných leteckých společnostech. Hlavní výzkumná hypotéza se týká preferencí cestujících ohledně typu cateringového servisu, s cílem zjistit, zda cestující preferují "Full-Service" nebo "Buy on Board" systém. Výstupy a poznatky diplomové práce zahrnují konkrétní doporučení pro zlepšení cateringových služeb v letecké společnosti "Smartwings". Zjištění výzkumu ukázala, že cestující preferují "Full-Service" catering, což vyvrací původní hypotézu o preferenci "Buy on Board" systému. Pro teoretickou část byly využity zahraniční zdroje zabývající se problematikou leteckého cateringu. Analytická část kombinovala kvantitativní a kvalitativní výzkumné metody, včetně dotazníkového šetření, rozhovorů s manažery leteckých společností a pozorování. Tyto metody poskytly komplexní pohled na preferenci cestujících a proces poskytování cateringových služeb. Celkově je tato diplomová práce relevantní pro letecký průmysl a poskytuje konkrétní doporučení pro zlepšení cateringových služeb v letecké společnosti "Smartwings".

Abstract:

This master's thesis focuses on the analysis and improvement of catering services in the aviation industry through a comparison of the airline "Smartwings" and the airline "Emirates". With increasing travel demand and competition among airlines, providing high-quality catering services that meet passengers' expectations is becoming increasingly important to ensure the competitiveness of the company. The theoretical part of the work provides an overview of the functioning of the aviation industry and terminology related to catering services on aircraft. The analytical part focuses on researching passenger preferences and the process of providing catering services in both examined airlines. The main research hypothesis concerns passenger preferences regarding the type of catering service, aiming to determine whether passengers prefer "Full-Service" or "Buy on Board" systems. The findings and insights of the thesis include specific recommendations for improving catering services in the airline "Smartwings". Research findings have shown that passengers prefer "Full-Service" catering, refuting the original hypothesis of a preference for the "Buy on Board" system. Foreign sources addressing the issue of airline catering were used for the theoretical part. The analytical part combined quantitative and qualitative research methods, including surveys, interviews with airline managers, and observations. These methods provided a comprehensive view of passenger preferences and the process of providing catering services. Overall, this master's thesis is relevant to the aviation industry and provides specific recommendations for improving catering services in the airline "Smartwings".
