The cooperation of USA and Mexico in the war on drugs as a sign of risk society?

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá politikami vedenými ve válce proti drogám v USA a Mexiku a tím, jak tyto politiky vedly k vytváření nových rizik, která bylo nutno později řídit. Teoretickým východiskem této práce je teorie rizikové společnosti, která se zabývá formací společnosti v odpovědi na rizika, kterým čelí. Zkoumána je role USA v podněcování války proti drogám v Mexiku, prohibicionistické politiky v USA a jejich dopady na společnost a také případ militarizace v Mexiku v období prezidenta Felipeho Calderóna (2006-2012) a důsledky militarizace. Závěr obsahuje odpovědi na výzkumné otázky této práce.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis deals with the policies conducted in the war against drugs in the USA and Mexico and how these policies led to the creation of new risks that later had to be managed. The theoretical basis of this thesis is the theory of risk society, which deals with the formation of society in response to the risks it faces. The role of the USA in inciting the war on drugs in Mexico, prohibitionist policies in the USA, and their impacts on society are examined, as well as the case of militarization in Mexico during the presidency of Felipe Calderón (2006-2012) and the consequences of militarization. The conclusion contains responses to the research questions of this thesis.
