Application of alternative elements to the employee performance evaluation system at HPE

Abstract:

Zaměstnanec je nejcennější aktivum, kterým firmy disponují. To může být jedním z důvodů, proč se řízení lidských zdrojů stává od konce 20. století velmi významným tématem pro vrcholový management společností. Trendem dnešní doby je přechod od tzv. tradičních způsobů a metod řízení lidských zdrojů k alternativním přístupům. Výzkum této práce je zaměřen na implementaci alternativních prvků do systému hodnocení zaměstnanců ve společnosti Hewlett Packard Enterprise. Nově zavedené alternativní prvky jsou téměř rok součástí systému hodnocení zaměstnanců v HPE. Smysluplnost a účelnost těchto nástrojů je prozkoumána z pohledu jednotlivých zaměstnanců této společnosti. Kvalitativní výzkum je založen na analýze hloubkových rozhovorů se zaměstnanci, kteří měli možnost tento systém od jeho spuštění v únoru 2019 využívat. Závěr práce přináší zhodnocení jednotlivých prvků tohoto systému z pohledu deseti respondentů a jsou navržena konkrétní doporučení pro společnost HPE, pomocí kterých by mohla být dosažena vyšší smysluplnost a efektivnost tohoto systému hodnocení výkonnosti zaměstnanců jako celku.

Abstract:

An employee is the most valuable asset that companies have. This may be one of the reasons why human resource management has become a very important topic for top management of companies since the end of the 20th century. Today`s trend is the transition from so-called traditional elements and methods of human resources management to alternative approaches. The research of this work is focused on implementation of alternative model of employee evaluation in Hewlett Packard Enterprise. The newly introduced employee appraisal system includes alternative elements and tools whose meaningfulness and effectiveness is examined from the perspective of individual employees of the company. The qualitative research is based on an analysis of in-depth interviews with employees who have been able to use this system since its launch in February 2019. The conclusion of this paper brings an evaluation of the individual elements of this system of employee evaluation from the perspective of ten respondents and proposes specific recommendations for HPE, which could achieve greater meaningfulness and efficiency of this system of employee performance evaluation as a whole.
