Influence of COVID-19 pandemie on the air transport in the world

Abstract:

Odvětví letecké dopravy je nesmírně důležité pro rozvoj moderní ekonomiky, cestování, mezinárodní obchod a tvorbu pracovních míst. Cílem práce bylo zjistit a charakterizovat vliv pandemie covid-19 na leteckou dopravu v globálním měřítku. Problém dopadů pandemie byl zkoumán v kontextu celého odvětví letecké dopravy a také z hlediska provozu vybraných leteckých společností (Qatar Airways a Emirates). První část práce obsahuje teoretická a metodologická východiska. Druhá část práce – analytická, je zaměřena na zhodnocení vývoje odvětví osobní letecké dopravy pomocí analýzy časových řád vybraných ukazatelů (počty cestujících, výkon letišť, výkon letecké dopravy v různých zemích a regionech). Dále je v této části zaměřeno na analýzu výkonu společností Qatar Airways a Emirates. Jsou popsány změny v cenové politice a standardech poskytování služeb v době pandemie covid-19, vymezeny dopady krize na zaměstnance. Výsledky provedené analýzy jsou představeny pomocí SWOT analýzy, která je následně využita k tvorbě doporučení a návrhů pro letecké společnosti.

Abstract:

The aviation industry is extremely important to the development of the modern economy, travel, international trade and labour market. The aim of the work was to determine and characterize the impact of the covid-19 pandemic on air transport on a global scale. The problem of the effects of the pandemic was examined in the context of the entire air transport industry and also from the point of view of the operation of selected airlines (Qatar Airways and Emirates). The first part of the work contains theoretical and methodological starting points. The second part of the work – analytical, is focused on the evaluation of the development of the passenger air transport sector using the analysis of time series of selected indicators (number of passengers, performance of airports, performance of air transport in different countries and regions). Furthermore, this section focuses on analyzing the performance of Qatar Airways and Emirates. Changes in pricing policy and service delivery standards during the covid-19 pandemic are described, and the effects of the crisis on employees are defined. The results of the analysis are presented using a SWOT analysis, which is subsequently used to create recommendations and proposals for airlines.
