The Design of a Utility Glass Set

Abstract:

Ve své bakalářské práci se věnuji designu skleněného užitného souboru inspirovaného květem irisu. Set se skládá ze zrcadel ve skleněných rámech, z váz a mísy designovanými s ohledem nejenom na funkčnost, ale i na estetiku. Jedná se také o design tavené plastiky umístěné na zdi. V teoretické části považuji za vhodné zmínit stručnou historii skleněných zrcadl a rámů. Kladu otázky, proč chceme interiérové doplňky a proč mají sloužit nejenom funkčně. Provádím rešerši inspiračních zdrojů a krátce seznámím čtenáře s použitou technologií souvísející s mou prací. V praktické části odkazuji na předchozí práci, představuji koncept a důvod tvarů vycházejících z motivu irisu. V závěru popisuji realizaci setu v materiálu.

Abstract:

In my bachelor thesis I am dedicated to the design of a utility glass set inspired by the iris flower. The set consists of mirrors in glass frames, vases and vessel designed with regard not only to functionality, but also to aesthetics. It is also about design of a mold melted glass placed on the wall. In the theoretical part, I consider it appropriate to mention the brief history of glass mirrors and frames. I ask questions about why we want interior accessories and why they are intended to serve not only functionally. I am conducting research of inspirational sources and briefly acquainting the reader with the technology pertinent to my work. In the practical part, I refer to previous work, introduce the concept and reason of the shapes based on the iris theme. In the end, I describe the production process of the set.
