The Chinese in Western Canada

Abstract:

English abstract: The aim of my bachelor thesis will be to concentrate on lives of Chinese people in western Canada and their interrelations with Canadians, how they were in past and how they developed until nowadays. I will focus on Chinese immigration to Canada; its history and disadvantages, than I would like to mention information about Chinese settlement and developing of first Chinatowns in Canada, their function in the past and also in recent times. In the third part I will concentrate on interrelations between Chinese immigrants and Canadian citizens, the bitterness of labour and discrimination which Chinese people had faced for a long time. The final part will include information about recent bilateral cooperation between these two countries.

Abstract:

Cílem mé bakalářské práce je zaměřit se na život obyvatel čínského původu v Kanadě a především jejich vzájemné vztahy s kanadskou společností, jejich minulost a vývoj. V práci jsem se zaměřila především na fakta týkající se čínské imigrace do Kanady, její historie a stinných stránek, dále jsem zmínila informace související s prvním osídlování a rozvojem ``Chinatowns{\crqq}, jejich funkcí, kterou zastávaly v minulosti a funkci kterou mají v současnosti. Ve třetí části jsem se soustředila na vzájemné vztahy obou komunit, trpkost a diskriminaci, s kterou se Číňané po dlouho dobu setkávaly. Poslední část zahrnuje téma - vzájemná spolupráce Číny a Kanady.
