Mexican Immigration Policy

Abstract:

Mexické imigrační právo bylo díky svému diskriminačnímu charakteru, nedostatečnému zohlednění lidských práv a v neposlední řadě také díky obrovskému kontrastu mezi požadavky vůči imigračnímu systém USA a domácí situací v této oblasti vždy velmi kontroverzní. Nicméně v posledních několika letech prošel tento systém zásadní změnou. Otázkou zde tedy je, co byly hlavní faktory, které zapříčinily takto zásadní změnu imigrační politiky. Hlavním cílem práce je tedy analýza jak vnitřních tak vnějších faktorů změn mexické imigrační politiky spolu s diskuzí o tom, který z těchto faktorů byl pro tuto změnu klíčový.

Abstract:

Mexican immigration law has always been a very controversial issue due to its discriminatory character, lack of concern for human rights and last but not least also the huge contrast between demands of Mexico towards US immigration system and the situation at domestic territory. Nevertheless, in a past few years Mexican immigration law has undergone significant changes in order to diminish this controversy. The question therefore is, what are the main factors that caused this significant shift of policies. The main purpose of this thesis is thus analysis of the domestic as well as international factors that led to this change, followed by the discussion, which of these factors was prevailing.
