Tato práce porovnává dva české překlady Hemingwayova románu To Have and Have Not (1946, 1968), primárně se zaměřuje na to, jak překladatelé nakládají s autorovým minimalistickým stylem, dialogy a kulturním kontextem. Pomocí vybraných pasáží, tzv. „rich points“, je určeno, kde se překlady odchylují od zdrojového textu, a následně se zhodnocuje, která verze přesněji překládá Hemingwayovy stylistické …more
Abstract:
This thesis compares two Czech translations of Hemingway’s To Have and Have Not (1946, 1968) with a focus on how each translator deals with the author’s minimalist style, dialogue, and cultural context. Using selected rich points, the study shows where the translations diverge from the source text and evaluates which version more accurately preserves Hemingway’s stylistic and thematic intentions.
