Idioms with colours and numbers in teaching of German as foreign language

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the use of idioms with numbers and colours in German language teaching. The aim of this work is to examine the symbolism of selected colours and numbers in idioms and subsequently to create phraseological exercises which include idioms with colours and numbers. The next step was to include the symbolism of numbers and colours in the exercises and to process them from the methodical point of view. The work is divided into two parts – the theoretical and practical one. In the theoretical part, the terms phraseology, idiom, contrastive phraseology, and meth-odology of phraseology are dealt with. The practical part examines the symbolism of numbers and colours in idioms. Subsequently the phraseological exercises are created. The phraseological exercises are divided into four learning phases accord-ing to Lüger's and Kühn's phraseological four-steps and methodologically enriched with the examined symbolism. The exercises are compiled for the pupils of High Schools and Secondary Grammar Schools who have reached B1-B2 level German according to the European Framework of Reference for Languages. Elaborated ex-ercises should be a tool for teachers, an inspiration, and a specific direction in which the phraseology can be taught.

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá použitím frazeologismů s čísly a barvami ve výuce německého jazyka. Cílem práce je zkoumat symboliku vybraných čísel a barev ve frazeologismech a následně vytvořit frazeologická cvičení, která jsou zaměřena na výuku frazeologismů obsahující čísla a barvy. Práce je rozdělena na dvě části. Teoretická část se zabývá pojmy frazeologie, frazeologismus, kontrastivní frazeologie a frazeodidaktika. Praktická část je zaměřena na tvorbu frazeologických cvičení. Cvičení jsou rozdělena podle Lügerovy a Kühnovy teorie frazeologického čtyřkroku do čtyřech učebních fází a obsahují didakticky zpracovanou symboliku čísel a barev. Cvičení jsou vytvořena pro žáky středních škol a gymnázií, které dosahují jazykové úrovně B1-B2 podle Společného evropského referenčního rámce. Vytvořená cvičení by měla sloužit jako pomoc či inspirace pro učitele a zároveň jako určitý směr, podle kterého by frazeologie mohla být vyučovaná.
