Smykový krabicový přístroj MATEST je primárně určen k testování puklin a jiných diskontinuit v horninách. Je také určen ke zkoušení smykové pevnosti skalních hornin. V manuálu přístroje se píše jen o primárním určení přístroje. V této práci byly řešeny problémy vzniklé při zkoušení smykové pevnosti skalních hornin použitím postupu z manuálu.
