Separační metody jsou mocným nástrojem pro analýzu proteomu umožňující redukci složitosti směsi vstupující do hmotnostního spektrometru a takto zvyšují podíl detekovaných komponent ve vzorku, jehož přímou analýzou lze dosáhnout jen částečného pokrytí komponent s nejvyšším zastoupením ve vzorku, a to i přes obrovský rozmach hmotnostní spektrometrie v posledních letech. Separation methods are a powerful tool for proteome analysis reducing the complexity of the mixture entering to mass spectrometer, which increases the ratio of detected components in a sample.
