Space differentiation of creativity in Czech Republic

Abstract:

Kreativita začíná být v posledních letech plných politických, ekonomických a technologických změn brána jako jeden z možných nástrojů na zajištění blahobytu a konkurenceschopnosti regionů. V návaznosti na tento trend je cílem této diplomové práce identifikovat prostorovou diferenciaci kreativity v krajích České republiky. Teoretická část přibližuje jednotlivé definice kreativity z pohledu různých oborů a vysvětluje její význam v ekonomice. Zabývá se prací Richarda Floridy, který tuto problematiku zpopularizoval a formuloval koncept kreativní třídy, ze kterého vychází mnoho dalších aplikací, například kreativní ekonomika, kreativní průmysl či kreativní město. V práci je vysvětlen Floridův Index kreativity 3T, nástroj, na jehož základě lze změřit kreativní potenciál regionu. Práce dále představuje aplikaci Floridova přístupu v podmínkách České republiky a vzhledem k četné kritice jeho přístupu představuje také další alternativní přístupy k měření kreativity. Jádrem praktické části práce je představení vlastního modelu kreativity a výpočet indexu kreativity pro všech čtrnáct krajů České republiky.

Abstract:

In recent years full of political, economic and technological changes creativity has begun to be seen as one of the possible tools to ensure welfare and competitiveness of regions. Following this trend, the aim of this thesis is to identify spatial differentiation of creativity in regions of the Czech Republic. The theoretical part focuses on definitions of creativity from different points of view and explains its importance in the economy. The thesis presents the work of Richard Florida, who has popularized this topic and formulated the concept of creative class, which many other applications are based on, such as the creative economy, the creative industry or the creative city. The thesis explains the Florida´s Creativity Index 3T, a tool to measure the creative potential of the region. The thesis also presents the application of Florida's approach in the conditions of the Czech Republic and, given the numerous criticisms of his approach, also presents other alternative approaches to measuring creativity. The core of the practical part of the thesis is the introduction of own model of creativity and the calculation of the creative index for all fourteen regions of the Czech Republic.
