The process and circumstances of scout instructors development

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou rozvoje skautských instruktorů v organizaci Junák – český skaut, z.s. Instruktoři v této organizaci zajišťují vzdělávání dospívajících a dospělých skautů na celé řadě vzdělávacích akcí, zvláště na tzv. lesních kurzech a školách. Ty představují vícedenní setkání charakteristické intenzivním programem zaměřeným na rozvoj účastníků, a uplatňováním principů zkušenostně reflektivního učení a animační pedagogiky. Těžiště diplomové práce představuje kvalitativní výzkumné šetření, které hledá odpovědi na otázku, jak probíhá rozvoj skautských instruktorů. Na základě analýzy a interpretace dat získaných v rozhovorech s deseti instruktory popisuje práce tři dimenze rozvoje instruktorů. V dimenzi vhledu představuje postupný vývoj instruktora ve čtyřech na sebe navazujících úrovních, ze kterých instruktor rozumí vzdělávacímu kurzu. V dimenzi zdrojů učení ukazuje, co umožňuje a podporuje instruktorův rozvoj. (Významné místo zde má reflektovaná praxe, spolupráce se zkušenějšími instruktory a setkání se vzorem.) V dimenzi osobnostního rozvoje poukazuje na významné charakteristiky, ve kterých se instruktoři rozvíjejí. (Jde o oblasti sebepojetí a sebeřízení, komunikace a mezilidských vztahů, odstupu a nadhledu, reflektivity, pokory). Zjištění výzkumu jsou ilustrována úryvky zaznamenaných rozhovorů a následně v diskusi komentována s využitím relevantních teoretických konceptů.

Abstract:

This master thesis deals with the topic of scout instructors and their development in the organization Junák – český skaut, z.s. (the Czech Scouting organization). The instructors in this organization are in charge of training teenage and adult scouts at a number of training events, especially at the so-called Forest Trainings and Forest Schools. These entail meetings lasting several days, characterized by an intensive program focused on the development of participants, as well as the application of experience reflection learning and animation pedagogy. The focal point of the thesis is represented by qualitative research aiming to answer the question what the process of instructor development is. Based on an analysis and interpretation of data obtained in interviews with ten scout instructors, the thesis depicts three dimensions of instructor development. In the insight dimension, the thesis introduces gradual development of an instructor in four cascading levels which enable the instructor to understand the educational training course. In the resource dimension presents the support of the instructor’s development. (A crucial role is played by reflected experience, cooperation with more experienced instructors, and meeting a model figure.) In the dimension of personal development, the thesis refers to significant characteristics that are developed in the instructors. (It concerns self-perception and self-control, communication and interpersonal relationships, distancing oneself and unworldliness, reflectivity, and humbleness.) The outcomes of the research are illustrated by excerpts of recorded interviews, and, subsequently, commented on in a discussion, with the use of relevant theoretical concepts.
