Museum of Romany Culture: its story and reflection

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývala Muzeem romské kultury jakožto diskursivní promluvou, která byla rozebírána z několika pohledů. Vnitřní pohled se opíral zejména o bulletiny Muzea romské kultury. Vnější hledisko bylo uchopeno pomocí návštěvních knih, tisku, webových portálů a příkladu politické zprávy. V odborném pohledu bylo nastíněno pojetí muzea jako diskursivní promluvy, upozorněno na důležitost rodiny a původu, roli charismatických vůdců, zmíněny jsou diplomové práce vztahující se k instituci Muzea romské kultury. Celkový pohled byl chápán jako průnik všech zmíněných pohledů, respektive alespoň opětovná potřeba se k dané situaci, tématice vyjadřovat. Porevoluční nadšení a vhodné podmínky pro vznik muzea jsou zmiňovány ve všech pohledech a hned několikrát. Podobně je tomu s potřebou zachytit mizející kulturu Romů či vymezením cílů muzea. Další výrazný průnik byl přelomový rok 2005, kdy se muzeum stalo státní příspěvkovou organizací, a tedy mu byl přiznán oficiální status. Celkový dojem z Muzea romské kultury se liší dle hloubky a rozsahu soudu, ovšem s charakteristikou „místo pro setkávání kultur, které uchovává doklady romské historie jako součást evropského dědictví“ by mohly souhlasit všechny příspěvky.

Abstract:

This paper focuses on the Museum of Romani Culture using a discourse that has been analysed from different points of view. The inner point of view is mainly based on bulletins of Museum of Romani Culture. The outer one on guest books, press, web portals and an example of a political report. From an expert point of view the conception of the museum as a discourse has been foreshadowed, the importance of a family, the origin and the role of charismatic leaders has been shown, also diploma papers related to the institution of Museum of Romani Culture have been mentioned. The final point of view has been understood as an intersection of all meant points of view, respectively, the necessity to express the importance of this situation and this theme. Post revolution enthusiasm and appropriate conditions are mentioned in all points view and also various times. It is a similar case, the necessity to record the vanishing Romani culture or the disappearing aims of the museum. Another breakpoint was the year 2005 when the museum became a state allowance organization and so the official status was admitted. The overall impress of the Museum of Romani Culture differs according to the depth and the extent of contemplation and obviously with the characteristic of a “place where different cultures meet and which preserves proofs of Romani history as a part of the European legacy” might agree all the used contrib.
