Attachment, attachment hierarchy, social support, and somatization among Czech combat

Abstract:

Tato práce si klade za cíl zmapovat citovou vazbu a sociální oporu po návratu ze zahraniční vojen- ské mise u českých kombatantů a zjistit, jak tyto proměnné a dále proměnná stresující události na misi ovlivňují následnou míru somatizační tendencí. Dalším cílem práce je zjistit, zda se mezi vazbovými osobami kombatantů vyskytují kolegové ze zahraničních misí. Výzkum byl realizován na vzorku 71 českých kombatantů, kteří se zúčastnili alespoň jedné zahraniční vojenské mise. Vý- sledky ukazují, že vazbová úzkostnost a sociální opora po návratu jsou statisticky významnými prediktory somatizačních tendencí. Vazbová vyhýbavost a množství stresových událostí na misi se neukázaly býti statisticky významnými prediktory somatizačních tendencí. Druhým zjištěním to- hoto výzkumu je, že mezi vazbovými osobami kombatantů se dle předpokladu objevují kolegové ze zahraniční vojenské mise. V závěrečné části práce jsou diskutované výsledky v souladu s dalšími výzkumy, možná vysvětlení, limity a případná budoucí implikace výsledků do praxe.

Abstract:

The aim of this study is first to chart the attachment and the post-deployment support of the Czech members of combat units and to probe how these characteristics and the combat experience influ- ence their somatization tendencies. The second aim of this study is to probe whether colleagues from deployment can be found among attachment figures of soldiers. The research was realized via questionnaire survey among 71 Czech members of combat units, who was at least once de- ployed. The results show that the attachment anxiety and the post-deployment support significant- ly predict the somatization tendencies. The attachment avoidance and the combat experience did not appear to be statistically significant predictors of the somatization tendencies. The second re- sult of this study shows that colleagues from deployment appear among combat´s attachment fig- ures. In the final part of this thesis are discussed the results in the connection with the previous studies, potential interpretation, limits of this research and the practical implication.
