Job Satisfaction in Teachers in Portugal and the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Predmetom diplomovej práce sú rôzne vplyvy na pracovnú spokojnosť učiteľov jazykových škôl v Portugalsku a Českej republike. Situácie, ktoré najviac prispievajú ku pracovnej spokojnosti, sú u učiteľov v Portugalsku najčastejšie spájané so študentmi. Učitelia v Českej republike na druhej strane zahŕňali aj iné faktory, ako napríklad extrinsické odmeny, faktory spojené s vyučovacími hodinami a vyučovacou metódami, a pod. Keď mali učitelia možnosť spomenúť viac vecí, ktoré vplývajú na ich pracovnú spokojnosť, tak zahŕňali odpovede, ktoré sa dodatočne dali zlúčiť do štyroch faktorov. Tieto faktory tvorili veľmi podobné relatívne zastúpenie v oboch skupinách učiteľov – v Portugalsku a Českej republike.

Abstract:

The thesis focuses on various job satisfaction influences in language school teachers in Portugal and the Czech Republic. The teachers in Portugal have been found to draw the most satisfaction and dissatisfaction from situations connected with students. The Czech teachers, however, included other factors such as extrinsic rewards, classroom management, teaching method, and so forth. When given the chance to include more influences contributing to their career satisfaction, the teachers were found to give similar answers which could be grouped to four factors with similar relative frequency of answers in each group of teachers in both Portugal and the Czech Republic.
