Island stojí stále oficiálně mimo Evropskou unii. Málokdo si ovšem uvědomuje, že je v některých oblastech zapojen do tohoto evropského projektu mnohem hlouběji než někteří jeho řádní členové. Iceland is still officially outside the European Union. Few realize that in some areas involved in this European project much deeper than some of its full members. Through the Agreement of the European Economic Area is an active participant in the EU internal market and participated in the framework of selected programs.
