Social Work and Social Consequences of Live with HIV/AIDS

Abstract:

Disertace se zabývá problematikou HIV/AIDS a za cíl si klade porozumět interpretacím sociálních důsledků života s HIV/AIDS a interpretacím úlohy sociální práce v problematice HIV/AIDS, které jsou vyřčeny komunikačními partnery ve výzkumu. K porozumění žité zkušenosti s životem s onemocněním HIV/AIDS disertace využívá obecné myšlenkové rámce sociálního konstrukcionismu a symbolického interakcionismu. Disertace zkoumá, jak lidé žijící s HIV/AIDS a jejich významní druzí interpretují sociální důsledky života s HIV/ADS, a jak interpretují úlohu sociální práce v této problematice. K analýze a interpretaci dat je v disertaci užita kombinace metod systematické, konstrukcionistické a situační zakotvené teorie. Za pomocí map sociálních světů a arén disertace zachycuje meziúroveň žité reality tak, jak byla zachycena v datech. Výsledky výzkumu jsou diskutovány v kontextu teorií modernizace. V závěru práce jsou formulovány dílčí doporučení pro sociální práci spočívající v orientaci směrem k perspektivě silných stránek a k reflexivitě v sociální práci.

Abstract:

The doctoral thesis deals with the issue of HIV/AIDS and aims to understand the interpretations of the social consequences of living with HIV/AIDS and the interpretations of the role of social work in the issue, which are spoken by the people living with HIV/AIDS. To understand the lived experience of living with HIV/AIDS the dissertation uses the general thought frameworks of social constructionism and symbolic interactionism. The dissertation examines how people living with HIV/AIDS and their significant others interpret the social consequences of living with HIV/AIDS, and how they interpret the role of social work in this issue. For the analysis and interpretation of data, a combination of methods of systematic, constructionist and situational grounded theory is used in the dissertation. Using maps of social worlds and arenas, the dissertation captures the meso-level of the lived reality. The reasearch results are discussed in the context of modernization theories. In the conclusion of the thesis, parcial recommendations for social work are formulated, focusing on the perspective of strengths and reflexivity in social work.
