Romanticism as a literary direction in teaching literature (high school)

Abstract:

Romantismus je významné a mnohotvárné umělecké hnutí 1. poloviny 19. sto-letí. Pro svou různorodost a obsahovou složitost pojmu může doznávat různých zjed-nodušení a zkreslení, a to i v didaktice. Předmětem této práce je analýza vybraných českých učebnic literatury pro 2. ročník středních škol, způsob, jakým je v nich pojat romantismus jako literární směr, a zdůraznění, nebo naopak potlačení některých aspektů romantismu. V bakalářské práci je nejdříve osvětlen pojem romantismu po teoretické stránce, poté jsou odborná fakta porovnána s obsahem šesti učebnic a je poukázáno na možné problémy těchto učebnicových výkladů. Závěrem této práce je stanovení dvou teorií vynechávání myšlenkového světa za účelem zjednodušení látky a snaha ze strany českých autorů učebnic vytvořit uměle český romantismus.

Abstract:

Romanticism was a significant and polymorphous artistic movement at the first half of the 19th Century. Because of its diversity and content complexity can romanti-cism undergo different kinds of simplification and misrepresentation, also in didactics. The topic of this thesis is an analysis of chosen 10th Grade Czech literature textbooks and the way they explain romanticism as a literature movement and which romantic aspects they emphasise and which they omit. In this bachelor thesis the term "roman-ticism" is explained at first theoretically, then those expert facts are compared with the content of six chosen textbooks and possible problems of these textbook interpre-tations are pointed out. In conclusion this bachelor thesis provides two theories omission of the "in-tellectual world" in order to simplify this term and the effort of Czech textbook authors to create artificial Czech romanticism.
