Energy dependence of EU on Russia and possible solutions

Abstract:

Evropská unie v současnosti vykazuje silnou závislost na dovozech energetických komodit. Konkrétně v případě Ruska jako hlavního dodavatele těchto surovin představuje energetická závislost riziko pro energetickou bezpečnost Evropské unie. Hlavním cílem této diplomové práce je analyzovat energetické partnerství z pohledu obou aktérů, kvantifikovat energetickou závislost států Evropské unie a navrhnout možné alternativy k tomuto partnerství ve snaze snížit energetickou závislost států EU na Ruské federaci. První kapitola představuje teoretické ukotvení práce a vymezuje energetickou politiku EU. V druhé části diplomové analyzujeme energetickou politiku Ruska, stejně jako je podroben analýze ruský export energetických surovin. Třetí kapitola je věnována vymezení a kvantifikaci energetické závislosti EU a projevům nestability v rámci energetického partnerství s Ruskem. Poslední kapitola je věnována alternativním možnostem EU k energetickému partnerství s Ruskem ve snaze snížit energetickou závislost na tomto státě

Abstract:

The European Union is currently heavily dependent on imports of energy commodities. In the case of Russia in particular, as the main supplier of these raw materials, energy dependence poses a risk to the European Union's energy security. The main goal of this thesis is to analyze the energy partnership from the perspective of both actors, quantify the energy dependence of the European Union and suggest possible alternatives to this partnership in an effort to reduce the energy dependence of EU on the Russian Federation. The first chapter presents the theoretical part of the work and defines the EU's energy policy. In the second part of the diploma we analyze the energy policy of Russia, as well as the analysis of Russian exports of energy raw materials is performed. The third chapter is devoted to the definition and quantification of the EU's energy dependence and manifestations of instability within the energy partnership with Russia. The last chapter is devoted to the EU's alternatives to the energy partnership with Russia in an effort to reduce energy dependence on this country.
