Aging of the Population and Its Effects on the Security Policy of the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Situace trestné činnosti páchané na seniorech je v současné době stále více diskutovaným tématem i u Policie České republiky, která se snaží podnikat určité kroky k její eliminaci. K lepšímu pochopení, proč má tento jev více pozornosti jsou v práci zpracovaná data o počtu obětí trestných činů starších 60 let i ukazatelé znázorňující vývoj obyvatel České republiky z pohledu zastoupení věkových skupin, délky života, který je prožit bez omezení, a také vývoj domácností, ve kterých bydlí senioři. Policie České republiky i Armády České republiky se také dotýkají změny ve struktuře obyvatel, proto je v práci znázorněno zastoupení seniorů u Policie České republiky a průměrný věk vojáků z povolání v Armádě České republiky. Cílem této bakalářské práce je analyzování dopadů stárnutí obyvatel na bezpečnostní situaci České republiky. Nejenom z pohledu Policie České republiky a Armády České republiky, ale také z pohledu civilních seniorů, kteří jsou snadným terčem pro pachatele trestných činů. Znalosti získané vypracováním této práce potvrzují ohroženost seniorů i stárnutí lidí v rámci zmíněných sborů, ale také poukazují na kroky, které jsou vedeny pro zlepšení bezpečností situace.

Abstract:

The bachelor’s thesis deals with issue of the criminal activity committed against the elderly in the Czech Republic. In recent years, it became one of the most frequently discussed issues and Police of the Czech Republic has been trying to take certain steps to eliminate this behaviour. This thesis works with indicators such as life expectancy, quality of life and senior households to show the population growth and in the same way with processed data related to victims older than 60 years. Police of the Czech Republic and the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic play an important role in this matter. Therefore, the work also shows the representation of seniors in the Police of the Czech Republic and the average age of professional soldiers in the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyse the implications of population aging on the security situation in the Czech Republic. Its importance to have different perspectives when considering these changes from Police of the Czech Republic and the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic as well as the elderly, who are easy targets of criminals. The knowledge gained through the elaboration of this work confirms the vulnerability of seniors and the population aging and points out the steps that have been taken to ameliorate the security situation.
