Is the drug organized crime in Mexico a sign of a failing state?

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá problematikou drogového organizovaného zločinu v závislosti na ovlivňování stability Mexika. Cílem práce je především posoudit vážnost situace a rozhodnout zdali drogový organizovaný zločin páchaný především drogovými kartely představuje charakteristiku hroutícího se státu. Cílem je také dojít k ucelenému závěru, který bude souhlasit nebo vyvracet posouzení organizace Fund for Peace, která každoročně vydává index upadajících států. Tato práce obsahuje tři části. V první části je popsán vývoj užívání a pašování drog v prostoru dnešního Mexika a blízkém okolí, dále charakteristika organizovaného zločinu a drogových kartelů. Druhá část se zabývá teoretickou specifikací hroutících se států a popisem jednotlivých indikátorů indexu hroutících se států. V poslední části jsou pak do jednotlivých částí indexu dosazeny reálné informace představující dění v Mexiku. V závěrečné části jsou vyhodnoceny a posouzeny výsledky, které přinesla předcházející část.

Abstract:

This dissertation deals with drug organized crime in connection with influencing the stability of Mexico. The aim of this dissertation is to judge the seriousness of the situation and decide whether the drug organized crime committed by drug cartels is characteristic of the collapsing state. My dissertation forms of three parts. The aim of this dissertation is also to reach comprehensive conclusion of this dissertation which will accept or refute the review of organization Fund for Peace, which annually publishes index of failing states. The first part describes the development and use of drugs, smuggling in the area of current Mexico, there is also described a characteristic of organized crime and drug cartels. The second part deals with a theoretical specification of collapsing states and with a description of each index indicators of collapsing states. In the last part real information are inserted in to the individual parts of the index representing current situation in Mexico. In the final part the results from the previous part are evaluated and assessed.
