Discrimination against generation Z in the context of the labour market

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá diskriminací generace Z v kontextu trhu práce. Cílem této práce je zjistit, jak generace Z vnímá diskriminaci na pracovním trhu, její názory na danou problematiku a náměty na její řešení. Diplomová práce je rozdělena na dvě hlavní části. Teoretická část se zabývá diskriminací – jejím definováním, vymezením souvisejících pojmů, práce detailně analyzuje formy a druhy diskriminace a též se zabývá Beckerovou teorií diskriminace a statistickou diskriminací. V teoretické části je charakterizována generace Z, vymezeny jsou i její preference zejména v pracovním prostředí. Součástí této kapitoly je i analýza současné situace na pracovním trhu. Poslední část teoretického rámce se zabývá antidiskriminačními opatřeními, kde jsou rozebrány stěžejní zákony související s touto problematikou a analyzovány jsou související strategie jako management diverzity a age management. Praktická část diplomové práce se zaměřuje na vlastní kvantitativní výzkum pomocí dotazníkového šetření mezi zástupci generace Z. Hlavním přínosem práce je zjištění, že generace Z se cítí být diskriminována – konkrétně 51,5 %. Výzkum též ukázal, že generace Z většinově nezná možnosti obrany proti diskriminaci a zjistil, že nejčastější formou diskriminace generace Z je nenaslouchání od nadřízených či kolegů. Rozebrány jsou další otázky související s problematikou diskriminace generace Z a na základě námětů od respondentů jsou poskytnuta doporučení.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on discrimination against Generation Z in the context of the labour market. The aim of this thesis is to find out how generation Z perceives discrimination in the labour market, their opinion on the issue and suggestions for its solution. The thesis is divided into two main parts. The theoretical part covers discrimination – its definition, definition of related terms, the thesis analyses in detail the forms and types of discrimination and also examines Becker's theory of discrimination and statistical discrimination. In the theoretical part, Generation Z is characterized, and its preferences are defined, especially in the work environment. This chapter also includes an analysis of the current situation in the labour market. The last part of the theoretical framework deals with anti-discrimination measures, where key laws related to this issue are adequately discussed and related strategies such as diversity management and age management are analyzed. The practical part of the thesis focuses on the actual quantitative research by means of a questionnaire survey among representatives of Generation Z. The main contribution is the finding that Generation Z feels discriminated against – specifically 51.5%. The research also showed that Generation Z is mostly unaware of the options to defend against discrimination and found that the most common form of discrimination against Generation Z is not being listened to by supervisors or colleagues. Other issues related to discrimination against Generation Z are discussed and recommendations are provided based on suggestions from respondents.
