Medzi rodinu proteínov anterior gradient patrí i proteín AGR2, ktorého zvýšená expresia je spojená s nádorovým ochorením. Mechanizmus jeho regulácie nie je úplne objasnený, avšak na základe jeho expresie v odlišných typoch nádorov bola zistená hormonálne závislá regulácia rovnako ako cesta hormonálne nezávislá, ktorá je spúšťaná ako odpoveď na fyziologický stres bunky.
