The impacts of addiction and harmful use of alcohol

Abstract:

Práce se především zabývá dopady závislosti na alkoholu a jeho škodlivého užívání. Věnuje pozornost příčinám zneužívání alkoholu, vzniku a rozvoji jeho závislosti a také její definicí. Zejména analyzuje zdravotní dopady alkoholiků týkajících se fyzických i psychických problémů. V neposlední řádě se také věnuje tomu, jak společnost zahlíží na tento společenský problém a také zda se této závislosti dá vyvarovat a zmiňuje body prevence. Následně se zabývá léčbou této závislosti, a to možnostmi nynějších léčebných metod, které jsou zejména terapie. Pro výzkumnou část práce je použita metoda kvalitativního výzkumu, a to formou rozhovorů. Rozhovory se týkají dvou skupin respondentů, a to odborníků ze zařízení pracujících s alkoholově závislými a bezdomovců. Při analýze dat jsou odpovědi prakticky spojeny s teoretickou částí. Výstupem tohoto šetření je interpretace zdravotních dopadů závislých na alkoholu, změny jejich nálad/osobnosti a důvody nadměrného užívání.

Abstract:

The thesis is primarily concerned with the impact of alcohol dependence and harmful use. It pays attention to the causes of alcohol abuse, the emergence and development of alcohol dependence, as well as its definition. In particular, it analyzes the health effects of alcoholics concerning physical and psychological problems. Last but not least, it also looks at how society views this social problem and whether this addiction can be avoided and mentions points of prevention. Subsequently, it deals with the treatment of this addiction, namely the possibilities of the current treatment methods, which are mainly therapy. For the research part of the thesis, the qualitative research method is used, in the form of interviews. The interviews concern two groups of respondents, namely professionals from institutions working with alcohol addicts and homeless people. In the data analysis, the answers are practically connected with the theoretical part. The output of this investigation is the interpretation of the health effects of alcohol addicts, changes in their moods/personality and reasons for excessive use.
