Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá tématem zobrazení posttraumatické stresové poruchy (PTSD) v americkém holokaustovém románu. Teoretická část práce stručně shrnuje historii pojmu trauma v psychiatrii; dále popisuje nejdůležitější symptomy PTSD, důsledky této poruchy a hlavní metody její léčby. Praktická část práce se věnuje analýze osmi amerických holokaustových románů, přičemž se soustředí zejména na způsob, jakým se projevy PTSD odrážejí na protagonistech a důležitých postavách analyzovaných románů. Závěr práce obecně hodnotí analýzu románů. Diplomová práce byla napsána na základě prostudování relevantní primární a sekundární literatury a internetových zdrojů věnovaných dané problematice.

Abstract:

The master thesis deals with the issue of representation of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in the American Holocaust novel. In the theoretical part it briefly outlines the history of the concept of trauma as a psychiatric term; it describes the major symptoms of PTSD, its effects and the methods of its treating. In the practical part it analyses eight works of the American Holocaust fiction, focusing on the reflections of PTSD in the protagonists and other important characters. The general summary of the analysis is included in the conclusion. The thesis was written after studying relevant primary and secondary literature and internet sources on the topic.
