The Influence of German on the English of a Slovak Native Speaker
Abstract:
Cílem této práce je analýza toho, jak se vliv německého prostředí projevuje na přízvuku slovenkého rodilého mluvčího v angličtině. Po stručném úvodu do teorie zvuků těchto tří jazyků jsou uvedeny různé hypotézy. Ty jsou zkoumány na základě porovnávání přepisů nahrávek projevu tří různých mluvčích s modelovými transkripcemi v RP a GenAm.
Abstract:
The aim of this thesis is to analyse how the influence of a German environment has manifested on a Slovak native speaker's accent in English. After a brief introduction to the theory of sounds of the three languages, different hypotheses are formed. They are investigated by comparing transcriptions of recordings of the speech of three different speakers with model transcriptions of RP and GenAm.
