The Economic and Political Impacts of the Transition to a Zero-Emission Economy in the Czech Republic in the period 2019–2030

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na analýzu hospodářsko-politických dopadů přechodu na bezemisní ekonomiku v České republice. Hlavním cílem práce je identifikovat klíčové výzvy a příležitosti spojené s přechodem a jejich dopady na klíčové sektory, jako jsou energetika a průmysl. Teoretická část se soustředí na koncepty zelené a uhlíkově neutrální ekonomiky a poskytuje přehled relevantní literatury. Práce rovněž zkoumá Porterovu hypotézu, která tvrdí, že přísnější environmentální regulace mohou podporovat inovace a zvýšit konkurenceschopnost. V praktické části je provedena analýza současného stavu české ekonomiky a emisí skleníkových plynů. Zvláštní pozornost je dále věnována dopadům zelené transformace na energetický a průmyslový sektor, včetně analýzy finančních aspektů spojených s touto transformací. Výsledky práce ukazují, že Česká republika čelí významným strukturálním výzvám při přechodu na bezemisní technologie, zejména v oblasti financování a implementace inovací. Práce přináší nové poznatky o roli veřejných politik v podpoře udržitelného růstu a snižování emisí, což je klíčové pro budoucí ekonomickou stabilitu a prosperitu země.

Abstract:

The thesis focuses on analyzing the economic and political impacts of transitioning to a zero-emission economy in the Czech Republic. The main objective of the thesis is to identify the key challenges and opportunities associated with the transition and their impacts on key sectors such as energy and industry. The theoretical part concentrates on the concepts of a green and carbon-neutral economy and provides an overview of relevant literature. The thesis also examines the Porter Hypothesis, which asserts that stricter environmental regulations can promote innovation and increase competitiveness. In the practical part, an analysis of the current state of the Czech economy and greenhouse gas emissions is conducted. Special attention is given to the impacts of the green transformation on the energy and industrial sectors, including an analysis of the financial aspects associated with this transformation. The results of the thesis indicate that the Czech Republic faces significant structural challenges in transitioning to zero-emission technologies, particularly in terms of financing and implementing innovations. The thesis provides new insights into the role of public policies in supporting sustainable growth and reducing emissions, which is crucial for the future economic stability and prosperity of the country.
