A.L.Kennedy, Janice Galloway a Ali Smith jsou často spojované v rámci mnoha kategorií. Trauma narace je jeden z nich a poskytuje prostor pro další analýzu. Jednotlivé autorky se od sebe liší, ale všechny se zabývají obyčejnými, malými a nedůležitými životy jednotlivců, kteří zažili útlak, násilí nebo dokonce smrt.
