IT project management and its relation to an organization

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se v první části zaměřuje na problematiku řízení IT projektů a IT governance. Pro řízení IT projektů jsou pak rozebrány metodiky PMBOK a PRINCE2, pro IT governance jsou zmíněny standardy COBIT a ITIL. Protože jsou projekty součástí systému organizace, je důležitou součástí práce identifikace částí organizace, které ovlivňují řízení IT projektů, a následný rozbor těchto částí. Druhá část práce, která zároveň představuje vlastní přínos práce, se zabývá analýzou vybrané společnosti na úrovni řízení IT projektů. Analýza se zaměřuje na způsob a míru jakou organizace ovlivňuje řízení IT projektů, identifikuje problémy a snaží se navrhnout nejlepší možná řešení. Analýza je prováděna na základě poskytnuté dokumentace společnosti a osobních diskuzí a rozhovorů s managementem a zaměstnanci společnosti.

Abstract:

The first part of this bachelor thesis focuses on issue of IT project management and IT governance. Further, methodologies PMBOK and PRINCE2 are analyzed within IT project management and COBIT and ITIL standards are mentioned within IT governance. Given that projects are part of a system of any organization, identification of those organization parts that influence IT project management and following analysis of these parts are important elements of this thesis. The second part of thesis, which also represents the very contribution of this thesis, deals with analysis of a chosen company in terms of IT project management. The analysis focuses on the way and amount of organization's influence on IT project management, as well as it identifies problems and tries to suggest best possible solutions. The analysis is performed according to documentation provided by the company and personal discussions with the company's management and employees.
