The Musical culture of the Terezín ghetto from the pedagogical point of view

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce Hudební kultura terezínského ghetta z pohledu prezentace pedagogického charakteru shrnuje hudební dění za zdmi Terezína v letech 1941-1945. Práce obsahuje stručný výklad života Židů v Protektorátu Čechy a Morava, později v ghettu. Poukazuje na historii samotné pevnosti a její funkci za druhé světové války. Největší část práce zabírá samotný hudební život v táboře. První část je rozborem samotného vzniku průběhu vývoje hudební činnosti v táboře. Poté se text rozděluje do jednotlivých kategorií: operní činnost, kabaretní činnost, orchestry terezínského ghetta, smyčcová kvarteta, klavírní oddělení a skladatelé s nejvýznamnějšími představiteli Pavlem Haasem, Gideonem Kleinem, Hansem Krásou a Viktorem Ullmannem. Bakalářská práce zpřehledňuje rozsáhlé téma tak, aby jednotlivé kapitoly mohly posloužit jako materiál pro práci pedagogů na základních a středních školách. Práce nabízí pro hlubší studium odkazy na další literaturu. Pro lepší uchopení látky text doprovází úkoly pro studenty s předem vypracovanými klíči. Stěžejními podklady pro tvorbu této práce se staly knihy Milana Kuny Hudba na hranici života (Praha 1990) a Hudba vzdoru a naděje: Terezín 1941-1945: o činnosti a tvorbě hudebníků v koncentračním táboře Terezín (Praha 2000).

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis The musical culture of the Terezín ghetto from the pedagogical point of view summarizes the music events of Terezín from 1941 to 1945. A brief story of Jewish people living in the Czech countries during the World War II, especially in the Terezín ghetto, is included as well as the history of the Terezín fortress and its function during the war. The main focus is on the musical life in the ghetto. First part includes the beginnings of musical life. Furthermore, the text is divided into several parts: opera, cabaret, orchestras of Terezín ghetto, string quartets, piano music and the most famous composers such as Pavel Haas, Gideon Klein, Hans Krása and Viktor Ullmann. Thesis is written to clarify the topic of Terezín music and to be a guide for teachers of primary schools and high schools. For additional and further study of the topic the appropriate literature is mentioned. Tasks for students altogether with the key are included to be helpful for better understanding of the topic. The main sources of inspiration were books of Milan Kuna Hudba na hranici života (Praha, 1990) and Hudba vzdoru a naděje: Terezín 1941-1945: o činnosti a tvorbě hudebníků v koncentračním táboře Terezín (Praha 2000).
