Reasons for departure of seniors to institutional care

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je pomocí kvalitativního výzkumu zjistit důvody, které vedou seniory k opuštění jejich domova a odchodu do institucionální péče a co by jim mohlo pomoci zůstat doma. Poté je seznámit s nabídkou sociálních služeb, které by také mohli ve své situaci využít. V prvních kapitolách se zabývám pojmy stáří a stárnutí a jejich významem v životě člověka. Také zde představuji důležitost vztahů s blízkými osobami seniora, které pro něho mohou být oporou v těžké životní situaci. Dále definuji potřeby seniorů a překážky, které jim mohou bránit při jejich naplňování. Zaměřuji se na téma charakteristiky a srovnávání rodinné a institucionální péče o seniory. V závěru teoretické části popisuji jednotlivé nepobytové sociálních služby, které mohou být vhodnou alternativou institucionální péče při zajištění potřeb seniorů. Ve výzkumné části popisuji metody, se kterými jsem pracovala. Také přináším odpovědi na otázky, které definuji v cílech této práce a tyto informace se pokouším rozšířit o své vlastní poznatky.

Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to find through qualitative means the reason that lead the seniors to leave their home and seek institutional care instead on finding solutions that could enable them to maintain their quality of life at home. I will also look to introduce them to range of social service that are available in some situation I will deal with the terms of aging and the significant of aging in the human life. I will present the importance of relationship between seniors and the people that are close to them and who may be able to support them in these tough times. I will define the need of the elderly and the obstacles that that can stand to impede fulfillment. I will compare family versus institutional care for the elderly and focus on the characteristics of each. At the end of theoretical part I will describe individual non-welfare social services that may be a suitable alternative to institutional care and still meet the needs of seniors. I have described my methods of research as well as answered questions define in the objectives of this work and extended from my own practical experience.
